Thread rolling is a versatile cold-extrusion forming machine tool. Within its specified rolling force range, it can perform thread rolling, straight‑thread rolling, and helical‑thread rolling on workpieces in the cold state. As an advanced non‑cutting process, it effectively enhances both the internal and surface quality of the workpiece. The radial compressive stresses generated during machining significantly improve the fatigue strength and torsional strength of the component, making it an ideal manufacturing method that is highly efficient, energy‑saving, and low‑consumption.
1. Adjust the spacing: Set the distances among the three axes so that the three thread‑rolling dies form an approximately equilateral triangle relative to the workpiece, then engage the hydraulic manual mode and adjust the cylinder nut stopper to ensure that, as the movable guide rail advances, the thread‑rolling die just makes contact with the workpiece being rolled.
2. Against teeth
1. Half-thread rolling (i.e., the workpiece has threading on only one section, with a length not exceeding the maximum die‑mounting wheel size)
1. Apply colored paint to the threading area of the three‑axis thread‑rolling machine, manually position it between the three die wheels, and use the foot switch to press the die wheel on the movable guide rail against the workpiece.
2. Manually rotate the pulley until the three die‑wheel screen prints on the workpiece form a complete circle, then check whether the three print segments align properly. If they do not, use any one of the three die wheels as a reference, loosen the coupling connecting the other two die wheels to the gearbox, and adjust the scale accordingly. Repeat this process until the three print segments align seamlessly to produce a continuous threaded imprint.
3. After the thread‑forming dies are properly assembled, start the main motor and the cooling pump, load the workpiece, and simultaneously perform roll‑forming while adjusting the hydraulic cylinder stroke. If the initial adjustment is insufficient, make multiple fine adjustments until the thread depth meets the specified standards and requirements. Special attention must be paid to ensure that the hydraulic pump pressure does not exceed 35 kg/cm², to prevent damage to the die due to excessive pressure.
4. Automatic Rolling: After the standard thread is formed, activate the hydraulic automatic mode. You can adjust the time relay to your desired settings, freely controlling both the automatic rolling and retracting times for rapid, cyclical rolling.
II. Full-Thread Rolling (i.e., the entire lead screw)
1. Loosen the two set screws on each of the three bearing housings, gently tilt the housing to an angle that approximates the lead angle of the worm gear thread, and then tighten the set screws on the bearing housings.
2. The tooth-forming and roll‑pressing steps are the same as those for half‑thread rolling.
